About The Cat Cafe
The Cat Cafe is Southern California's first cat cafe. We feature adoptable cats from The Rescue House. In addition to our cats, The Cat Cafe seeks to highlight other local small businesses. That's why our coffee and espresso comes from the award winning San Diego roaster Cafe Virtuoso. You'll also find cookies from The Cravory, pastries from Bread & Cie, and sandwiches and snack packs from Sunshine & Orange.
We're open daily from 9 AM to 4 PM and we limit the number of people interacting with the cats to 10 to alleviate congestion in the cat playpen.
Unlike many cat cafes, your admission fee includes a food or drink item.
We're close to San Diego landmarks like the Convention Center, Petco Park, and the Gaslamp Quarter.

I am ten and i had an excellent experience with the cats. They were so cute and my favorite cat was oreo. She was ADORABLE and was so friendly and playful. The staff was so knowledgeable and let us know what all the cats liked and didn't like also

It was my first time at a cat cafe and I understand there are rules to be followed but being in the cat room the vibe was tense, you have to be whispering the whole time or talking in a really low voice (thereโs a noise meter on the wall). The barista was nice and had a more welcoming attitude but the guy explaining the rules and supervising in the cat room he was abrasive and strict. I went around 11 am and totally not the cats fault but they were only sleeping or hiding, not being playful or interacting. The room also has a musty smell. The cat shown in the picture had something in his eyes.. maybe an infection ? FYI : The entrance fee is $25 (it includes a complimentary food or drink)

We visited a couple of weeks ago, and we had a great time! The cats all have their own personalities, and while some loved to play, others are very docile and enjoy long petting sessions. I appreciate all the rules they have in place to protect the cats and keep them healthy. Further, I appreciated the other guestsโ behavior as well. Everyone followed the rules - even children - and made it a great experience overall. The cafe has drinks and snacks, cute little souvenirs for purchase, and even bags of cat food visitors can purchase to donate. Next time we are back in San Diego we look forward to visiting again!

I'm from Arizona and my husband is a friend of the owner, Tony. Of course I want to support small businesses and pet all the kitties! ๐ป One side of the shop has โ๏ธ ๐ฎ coffee/drinks, ๐ฉ๐ช snacks, and๐๐souvenir gifts. There is outdoor seating if you'd like. The other side is separated by a full wall and has its own entrance door, this is where the kitties are. There's shelving outside of the cat room to store your belongings and sanitize your hands before entering the cat room. You are chaperoned by an employee the whole time just to ensure the kitties are kept safe- they didn't meddle in your experience. You can pet them, play with them but you cannot pick them up, hold them, or carry them. You can take photos WITHOUT flash. They ask that the volume be kept to a reasonable decibel. The cats are up for adoption (EXCEPT the resident cat(s), like Theo) unless already committed. All you have to do is ask. Support small businesses and help give some sweet furbabies a well deserved, loving home!

Iโve been to a lot of cat cafes and personally did not have a great experience at this one. The lady at the front was not very welcoming and very short to me and the other couple waiting. The cats were cute but most were sleeping or did not like to be pet as they were shy or scared. The room itself walking in and being in it smelt heavily of cat pee and dirt and overall the environment was very tense. I ended up leaving after 20 minutes because it was boring and the cats didnโt want to be pet or played with (not the cats fault of course). I think this place could use a proper cleaning and new staff!
